Three Quick and Easy Beauty Tips for Your Morning Commute

Easy Beauty TipsThese days, women are looking for quick solutions to an everyday problem: How to get out of the house in the morning with briefcase in tow, kids at the hip, and coffee in hand – while looking as if we’ve just emerged from the spa. “Society” expects a lot from women: go out in the workforce and support the economy; have babies and expand the population; put the kids in daycare, go back to work and become supermom – and look great while doing it all! Whether society has put this pressure on women, or they’ve put the pressure on themselves, one thing remains true: time has become a precious commodity. There never seems to be enough hours in the day, and getting out in the door in the morning seems to be the busiest time of day. Here are three easy beauty tips that will help make your morning smoother, and your commute less stressful.

1.     Have everything ready the night before: Nobody wants to hear this one but have things organized the night before so that you know where everything is and you’re not scrambling in the morning. Lay out your clothes, including your shoes. Make your lunch and put it in the fridge. Make the kids’ lunches if necessary. Know what makeup you’ll be wearing, and have it all on the counter so it’s ready when you get out of the shower. You can even go so far as to take meat out of the freezer the night before so you know exactly what to make for dinner when you get home. Having everything ready the night before will give you more time to work on your ‘face’ in the morning.

2.     Don’t hit that snooze button: If you are trying to catch some extra winks of sleep, you’ll wake up rushed, no matter how much you have prepared the night before. Go to bed earlier so you won’t be so tired in the morning. Here’s a tip: Put your alarm clock at the other end of your bedroom, so you can’t just reach over and shut it off; this will force you to get up; and once you’re up, you won’t be so tempted to go back to bed! When you are not rushing out the door, you will have time to put your mascara on at home, not while you’re driving.

3.     Get a Wash and Go Style: The days of spending hours on your hair are over. Get a style that you can wash, scrunch and go. If you need to give it a quick blow-dry, that’s ok. Just don’t spend a lot of time curling, straightening and styling. If you absolutely must straighten, do it the night before. If you love your curls, try going for a perm. There are hundreds of hairstyles, and you can look through some magazines to find one you like, or ask your hairstylist for their opinion. You can also try sleeping in curlers, but many women find it too uncomfortable, even with soft curlers. Let’s face it: this isn’t our mother’s generation when we went to sleep with huge, prickly curlers and face masks.

It really comes down to time management and advanced planning skills. The more you do the night before, the more time you will have to get ready in the morning. Not only will you have time to make yourself look great, but you will be less stressed and your day will go much more smoothly.
